The study for today is entitled: ¿Are children of light only those that are called anointed by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society?
The apostle Paul writes to the saints in Thessalonica the following in 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 4 and 5: But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of DARKNESS.
Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that all apostolic letters were mostly aimed at Christians “anointed” who had heavenly hope. But is that true? ¿Should those who are called “anointed class” of Jehovah’s Witnesses be the only children of light? And what about the other sheep or the “great crowd” of Jehovah´s witnesses?¿Are they children of darkness? The answer should be that all believers, without exception, should be the children of light, for he who does not walk in the light, just do not know where he goes, as Jesus himself said in John 12 verse 35: “For that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. “
Believing in Christ, and following him, is the same as walk in the light and not in darkness. In John 8 verse 12, we read: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. If you do not follow Jesus, you are simply walking in darkness. When one becomes a follower of Jesus, one is certainly walking in security and in the grace of God. That’s what Jesus says in John 12 verse 46: I, light, have come into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
Those who have left the darkness to walk in the light of the Lord have been moved by God to the kingdom of His beloved Son by faith, as Paul says in Colossians 1 verse 13: “For he has rescued us from the power of the DARKNESS, and translated into the kingdom of his dear Son.”One really goes from the kingdom and power of the devil to the kingdom and power of God, as we read in Acts 26 verse 18, “To open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God; to receive by faith that is in me, forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified. “So the children of light are those who have escaped from the dominion of Satan and have been brought into the realm of the Lord for His saints. Hence, we can argue that all faithful Christians are children of light. Those who persist in walking in darkness simply can not have fellowship with the Lord, as John says in 1 John 1 verse 6: If we say we have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
And finally, the children of light are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (See 1 Peter 2 verse 9 ).
¿Is not this enough proof that every consistent Christian believer is a children of light, and not just a chosen elite according to the Watchtower composing what they say is a holy nation, a chosen people, a royal priesthood of 144,000 people with heavenly hope? This Bible lesson is a definitive proof that all believers are a royal priesthood, a holy nation. And we know from Daniel 7 verses 18, 22 and 27 that the saints shall rule the world next to the Messiah, the Lord Jesus. In fact, a glorious destiny awaits to all children of light, without a doubt.
Now, While it is true that Jehovah’s Witnesses admit that all their members are in the light of truth, and therefore are, in some sense, “children of light”, however they simply do not accept that these children of light of the “other sheep” class are part of the chosen of God, the holy nation, and a royal priesthood of anointed people called out of darkness, mentioned by Peter in 1 Peter 2 verse 9. If this is true, then the anointed members of the watchtower society should be the only ones called to declare the praises of God, and one else.
